Reflecta x7-Scan Schnellscanner

I am replacing the Reflecta x7-Scan and its accompanying 135 film holder with a new design that allows for quick and easy digitization of film strips. The goal is to speed up the process while maintaining a decent level of quality. The key advantage of small camera-based film digitizers lies in their speed, making them an attractive option despite sacrificing some resolution and scratch removal capabilities. However, using the standard Reflecta film holders requires several steps: 1. Pull the holder out of the digitizer 2. Open the holder 3. Clean the film 4. Carefully position the film 5. Close the holder 6. Insert the holder into the digitizer 7. Take four individual pictures This process is too time-consuming, especially when trying to digitize hundreds of old films. With this new design, you can simply grab a strip, clean it, and push it into the digitizer bit by bit, taking one picture at a time until the strip is fully scanned. The [Done] link on Thingiverse showcases the completed project, and the process can be repeated for each subsequent film strip. To use this new holder, place the film in its carrier with the shinier side up and right side facing you (people's feet towards you). You can push the strip into the digitizer from either the left or right side on your Reflecta device. Note: Using a holder that opens and closes is beneficial for film strips as it reduces pressure on them. However, this design is not suitable for precious negatives due to the risk of scratching the film. It's recommended to use this with old films that take up too much space. While some magnets can be used to hold the holder shut, they are optional and the design works well without them.
