Reel-to-reel Compact Casette Upgrade
cults3d
I recently discovered I was missing out on playing music from tapes not because of sound quality but because of that nostalgic feeling of the 80s. So, I bought a used tape deck and some cassettes. To enhance my visual experience, I designed a reel-to-reel cassette upgrade. It's far from professional reel-to-reel cassettes, but it doesn't cost a fortune and looks great. The disadvantage is that you need to cut off almost half of the 90-minute cassette tape, leaving you with about 50 minutes. However, this isn't an issue for me. My reels are 0.2 mm thin, so I made sure to calibrate my bed carefully. I'm using capton tape for good adhesion, even at low bed temperatures, and a glossy finish on the bottom layer. I printed with PLA and used a 0.3 mm nozzle. Here's a video of my project: https://youtu.be/oTubU1VG-n0 The instructions are attached. This is still a work in progress; currently, I have two types of design for the inner supporting structure. The first one is easier to remove, while the second provides better support for the inner cylinder.
