Reef Ball Pirate Coin (Copper)
thingiverse
This is designed to be printed in copperfil or bronzefil (Colorfab). Bring into your slicer then size according to the coin size you want, starting at 1 cm for a standard diameter. To achieve a larger diameter, simply scale up by three times. Adjust your settings accordingly to optimize detail and resolution. A good starting point for the Lulzbot Mini is scaling to 3x, setting the layer height to 0.2 mm, print temperature to 200C, bed temperature to 60C, and a print speed of 25mm/sec without support or adhesion. Once printed, there are two methods to bond the coins together. You can use Seal All glue for a seamless joint or employ a more advanced technique involving a blowtorch. To achieve this, lay the subliminal RB side down on a tile, apply a brief 2-second blast of flame, and then place the opposing half on top, face up. Gently press them together to create a secure bond. After bonding, use a soldering iron to seal the edges, effectively eliminating any seams or imperfections. To complete the process, submerge the coin in a glass of chlorine bleach for 1-2 days. This will help accelerate the aging process, simulating centuries of exposure to the ocean. Finally, apply a non-glossy polyurethane paint/sealer to preserve the patina and protect the coin from further degradation. Alternatively, you can leave it as is, embracing its natural beauty and history.
