dtarril's "Life Counter Side By Side" is the best counter I found that can be printed on a single extruder printer without looking like hot garbage or spending forever with a nail file. I redesigned the number wheels so the numbers aren't fully hollow. I put a 1.4 mm backing so they can be printed as a single solid object without having to print the wheels and numbers separately. While there is no problem with printing them in a single color, I recommend you do a color change after the 1.4mm mark for better contrast. Plus it just looks more awesome.
