This model was inspired by cybugs-the massive robotic beetles that burst onto the scene in 'Wreck-it Ralph'. When I first laid eyes on the bugs, I thought 'those are super cool, but could I modify them so that they look less intimidating?' So that's exactly what I did. I created a 12 dof quadruped (3 dof for each leg) cybug that can retract its legs into a compact ball shape and even penned an arduino code for some gaits - which I will publish later, after some thorough testing. I am also planning to post an instructable on how to build this robot, if anyone wants to give it a try.
