Red Sea 130D Aquarium replacement filter plate and surface skimmer upgrade
thingiverse
I recently acquired a used Red Sea 130D aquarium, which I'm setting up as a thriving planted tank. After only a few days of operation, I noticed an excessive buildup of surface scum. A swift online search for a surface skimmer revealed this upgrade kit for approximately $50. https://www.amazon.com/Red-Sea-MAX-Adjustable-Surface-Skimmer/dp/B001TXTLSY I decided to take on the challenge of creating my own surface skimmer attachment, and in the process, I also designed a replacement for the existing filter plate to test the attachment's functionality. Both models are now available for download, and I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have to further improve them.
