Red Ryder Powerspacer

This mod for a Red Ryder increases velocity by about 100 fps, boosting speed from 300 to 400 fps. The design is based on the spring, which suggests that up to a 450 mm spacer can be used without exceeding its modulus of elasticity. However, this particular spacer is 300 mm and appears to be the maximum without compromising spring performance. I printed it out of ABS plastic. To install, place the spacer rearward of the spring with the cupped end facing forward. It's also recommended that you put the rubber plunger into a drill and sand off the flashing from the corner edge using fine sandpaper. Assembly can be tricky due to added spring tension, so consider having someone assist in compressing the spring with a rod while inserting the steel tang. During testing at 50 yards, my sighting decreased by about two-thirds, equivalent to a one-foot vertical drop. Expect the spring to break in and lose some strength over the first few shots as it settles into its new performance level.
