Red Guardian parts - from the preview for Black Widow
thingiverse
I'm gearing up to create a cosplay of the Red Guardian from the upcoming Black Widow movie. Since I couldn't find any files for the parts, I decided to roll up my sleeves and make my own. The original shoulder strap buckles were a bit too flimsy for my taste, so I strengthened them. I'm thinking of using 2-inch straps for the bracers and boot covers - I've already bought the clasps for these. As for the rest, it looks like they'll all be 3 inches, possibly with a combination of 2-inch and 3-inch straps. To give my cosplay a more authentic Cold War Soviet look, I added fake screws to the buckles. This gave them a bit more character and made them less sleek. I'm happy with how they turned out. The chest star was printed using flexible filament, which worked like a charm. I ditched the original hand guards, which were Stormtrooper-style, and created my own basic ones. To be honest, I'd recommend getting those gloves with built-in handguards - I got mine for $8 on Wish and they're a game-changer. The original bracers weren't great, so I had to use a heat gun to get them to fit properly. I've since redone the design and think it'll be better, but I haven't tested the print yet. Here's what you'll need: * Chest Star * 2 Bracers * Handguards * Belt buckle * 2 Shoulder Strap buckles * Strap Greebles * 4 Back Buckle * Helmet Greebles * Collar pieces I noticed that the strap loops over the shoulder, going through both the shoulder buckle and back buckle. The shoulder strap then has another strap that goes under the chest star to the belt. There's also a second set of back buckles under each arm - I'll try to add a screenshot with one of them circled. FYI: Only three thumbnails are loading for some reason, but I've taken screen shots of the other four from Cura and uploaded them instead. To complete my cosplay, I added pieces for the helmet and collar. I included the small star for the forehead with the side and elastic clip pieces - that'll need to be painted red though. I didn't feel like having a separate file for just one little piece, so I rolled it into this design.
