Red Granite head of King Ramesses II

myminifactory

This head belongs to a colossal statue of Ramesses II, depicted proudly wearing a god's wig and majestic beard. Hieroglyphics etched next to the king reveal one of his many names and vow that he will be granted eternal life. This magnificent statue was likely originally erected at the royal city built by Ramesses II in the Nile Delta, known as Pi-Ramesses. Many notable monuments from this city were relocated by subsequent kings when the royal palace shifted to the nearby city of Bubastis.
