Red Brick 95-1717, St. Johns Wreck
sketchfab
A multitude of disparate earthenware fragments were uncovered on the St. Johns shipwreck site, a location widely accepted as the final resting place of the Spanish galleon Santa Clara from 1564. This reddish brick measures 4.5 centimeters in thickness and 9.7 centimeters in width, though its length remains partially obscured due to erosion. A substantial red stone is embedded within the brick's paste. The bricks could have originated from the ship's furnace or hearth, alternatively they may have been rejected fragments mixed with the stone ballast used for stabilization.
