Red Base 1
thingiverse
Hello! My name is Ali Rafi and I am a senior undergraduate Mechanical Engineering student from New York City. I have created a model of 3D printable Mars Base using SolidWorks. This is a very simple and a potentially realistic concept model of a Base on planet Mars. To live there, we would require electricity and to produce it, solar panels, windmills and an innovative solar thermal plant are our available options. The idea of the solar power plant is similar to the one that is already established in the Mojave desert. Research and exploration will be big part for the first settlers. So, there will be three laboratories, one for general research and the other two for communication and power distribution. Recreation and exercise are also important for the first humans on Mars. So, there will be a bay designated just for that purpose. Exercise machines could also be made out of the 3D printer that will be used to print the base. For growing plants and vegetables, there will be a greenhouse. There will also be a dining area and two sleeping/resting bays for the first humans. Last but not the least, there will also be storage bays to store equipment, rovers, suits, food etc. and tanks for storing fuel and oxygen. Instructions First I create a base to hold my structures in place. Then I made each of the structures using different tools in Solidworks. Finally to create the windmills, I had to do them in a separate part file because it require complicated lofting of the blades. Then I assembled the base with structures and the five windmills.
With this file you will be able to print Red Base 1 with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Red Base 1.
