https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_P5H9UKD8-8 "Red Baron II: Hand Launched Biplane Glider" is a hybrid model that combines the best of PLA and balsa wood, all thanks to your thoughtful comments and emails about my "Red Baron Hand Launched Glider". Some eagle-eyed fans pointed out that Snoopy's doghouse was actually inspired by the Sopwith Camel, a biplane not a monoplane. So here's the biplane model you've been waiting for! Designed for indoor or calm outdoor flying, this model is just as easy to fly as it is to print and assemble. The design boasts a lightweight 3D printed fuselage structure paired with balsa wood flight surfaces, making it perfect for gliding smoothly through the air. With only three 3D printed components and three templates needed to cut out six flight surfaces from 1/32" balsa wood, this model is a breeze to print and assemble. I used 3D printed templates for cutting the flight surfaces, knowing I'd be making many more of these in the future. As always, I'm human and prone to mistakes, so don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions or need clarification on anything. Autodesk Fusion 360 was my tool of choice for designing this model, while Cura 3.4.1 sliced it into perfect prints that came out smoothly on both my Ultimaker 2+ Extended and Ultimaker 3 Extended printers.
