Red Alert Tesla Coil Lamp
thingiverse
I've modified the tallest part so it can be printed on smaller 3D printers by breaking it into two pieces. The Tesla Coil from Red Alert 2 is also available for download from my collection. Made with a few easy-to-assemble pieces to allow for colored printing, I've avoided painting altogether. However, you'll still need to glue the parts together (dependent on your printer settings). Printing the model can be quite straightforward, except for the silver rings in the middle, which will require a lot of support and brim to print correctly. Ensure that "support everywhere" is enabled, not just when it touches the build plate. The small silver pipes also need additional support. Everything is saved in STL format, with each piece in its printed position. You'll need to add four copies of the small silver pipe and red part to the build plate, as I've saved them separately for your convenience. The tallest black part measures 210mm, but you can cut it down to 200mm if needed - just let me know! I printed everything using a cheap Anet A8 3D printer, so it's definitely possible with less expensive equipment. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the design or make it easier to print, I'm all ears. To convert this into a lamp, I printed the top ball with clear PLA and zero infill. There's a hole in the black frame from top to bottom for cable management. My next project is likely going to be the Tesla Reactor, where I plan to add batteries and connect it to the Tesla Coil as a power source using a cable. What do you think?
