I'm giving it another shot with my old CD/DVD player. So far, so good! To get this baby up and running, you'll need to bend the metal part of the stepper motor into shape, secure it with a screw, and then re-bend it back into place. I've got 2 x 4x4x9 bearings and an M4 screw on hand to make it happen.
