A variety of recycling bin designs are available, with one inexpensive container and four pricier options. Inspired by kitchen waste generation, I created a design addressing key requirements: under-sink placement, carrying multiple containers, easy and cost-effective production, and customizable compartment dimensions. The solution features one container, three portable barriers, and four color-coded lids for trash classification. Each barrier accommodates an open bio bag, preventing missed waste disposal. When full, simply lift the lid to dispose of trash in a larger bin or replace with a new bag. Portable barriers allow customizing compartments from two to four, although larger bags are needed. Parallel chambers ensure equal user impact, eliminating crouching or stretching typical of drawer-style designs. Injection molding enables affordable production while meeting all demands.
