RecycleBot Chain Guard

RecycleBot Chain Guard

pinshape

This simple chain guard prevents accidental finger amputation in the RecycleBot V2.2+ waste plastic extruder. Now that the RecycleBot is more secure, consider this: printing with recycled plastic at home is far more eco-friendly than buying commercial filament. Distributed Recycling offers further insight into this topic. Instructions are as follows: print out the two parts on your preferred open-source 3D printer and then cut out a sturdy board wall from an appropriate material (you can do this by hand, but a laser cutter makes it easier). There are screw holes in the prints to securely fasten everything together. Next, bolt directly to the gear end of the main holder for the auger of the RecycleBot (consult images for placement). We extend our gratitude to Buck for his design and fitting expertise and to an unnamed OSHA inspector who recommended this project. If you're using a Lyman extruder or other filament extruders, consider creating derivatives for these models as well.
