Rectangular Piston
thingiverse
Initially, I crafted a cylindrical piston which turned out superb except for a few leaks. A brilliant idea struck me to experiment with another shape, a rectangular piston this time. I designed the walls considerably thicker to avoid potential pressure-related issues at corners. However, my MakerBot suddenly made a loud pop, and upon inspection, the idler wheel snapped. Thankfully, a spare idler wheel was available, and I expect to be operational again in a day or so. On another note, my Skeinforge settings were set at 0.7 fill level, which resulted in bulging plastic and overlapping; I recommend setting it at 0.5 for optimal performance without leaks.
