The latest version 2.1b of the recorder instrument is now functional, thanks to nycdesigner and tbuser for their support. This redesigned recorder features enhanced scientific measurements, improved sound theory, and an innovative design. The recorder, one of the oldest woodwind instruments, produces a distinctive Renaissance music sound when played by experienced musicians and is often used in elementary music classes due to its ease of use. With 3D printing, everyone can create their own recorder for beautiful music or comical screeches if they never got past "hot crossed buns". Intrigued by the whistle (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1046) and its variations (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1046/variations), I decided to design a recorder from scratch, deviating from the whistle. Version history includes Ver2.0, Ver2.1a, and Ver2.1b with different mouthpiece designs for optimal stability during print and tuning without affecting sound quality. Assemble the 3 printed parts, warm up the mouthpiece before playing, and blow gently. Remember that starting with all holes covered and uncovering them one by one will make high notes sound flat; use the key chart on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recorder#Recorder_fingering for proper tones.
