Record Spacer Fidget Spinner
thingiverse
My first run at a fidget spinner crafted in the shape of a vinyl record adapter is complete, and I must admit that it's quite ironic given that many young fidget spinner enthusiasts are too young to even recall what the adapter looks like. Nevertheless, it's still a cool design. This is Alpha version 1.1, so I'm making no promises about its performance without some tweaks and adjustments along the way. Standard 608 bearings power the center, while 8mm steel balls take care of the perimeter weights. The recordfidgetv2.stl file has edge chamfers removed, allowing for a brim to be printed if desired. If you're looking for an alternative to steel balls, consider using 8mm x 8mm Cylinder Neodymium Magnets instead. Conducting experiments with multiple spinners on a shaft will reveal how these magnets impact the motion of other spinners on the shaft. Just be sure to insert an extra 608 bearing (or another spacer of varying thickness) between each spinner to prevent magnets from colliding or crushing fingers. Those size magnets pack around 9.7 lbs of pull force, so it's not recommended for kids under three years old to handle them.
