I'm looking for a makeshift record clamp because I don't want to spend money on an actual one, but so far, it seems to be doing its job. To get the best results, I suggest placing a felt washer under the record that's about 3mm thick and has a diameter of around 25mm. This is especially helpful if your records are heavily dished and only lightly touch the plate.
