Reclining Buddha
myminifactory
This model honors Makha Bucha, an important Buddhist Holiday and celebration. Also known as Magha Puja, it marks the full moon of the third lunar month when 1,250 monks gathered to listen to Buddha's teachings seven months after he began preaching. These monks were ordained by Buddha and learned the principles of Buddhism. 45 years later, on the same full moon in the third lunar month, just before his death, Buddha delivered his teachings once again. This model is based on Thailand's famous Reclining Buddha located within the Wat Pho temple complex in Bangkok, a massive gold-leaf-covered statue housed inside a building (vihara). It portrays Buddha in the position he took shortly before passing away. At MiniWorld, we celebrate Buddhist culture and the people of Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and many more! All my models are created by hand and brain, so please give credit where it's due. Spreading culture is what it's all about! MiniWorld is a collection of 3D printable landmarks from around the world. Please note that this model represents a revered figure for millions of people, so be respectful when printing, remixing, or sharing it. Similar to other deity representations like those by Scan the World, this model is based on the original sculpture.
