Recliner Replacement Handle
prusaprinters
Well this recliner is aging, but the other day when the handle broke I didn't worry a bit, as I knew Prusa would come to the rescue.Without the handle, the recliner is just a chair as turning the mechanism without mechanical advantage is almost impossible. The original handle is screwed in, which may have contributed to stress areas at the attachment areas, causing the handle to finally crack and fail. This design simply presses on, and I found doesn't really need a screw (press fit). The attachment area is a piece of square tubing, square, about 16.5mm x 16.5mm. The chair's footrest won't raise unless this is turned, there is an over-center spring in the mechanism so the entire torque doesn't come from the handle alone. The design has a shorter handle as a longer one really isn't needed, and, for the angle along the ground there is only so much room. It is also works as the mechanical advantage is still there by lifting with 2 fingers when you want to stand up.I don't recommend PLA for this one. I made it out of PolyCarbonate (PC) with very thick walls and rectilinear infill. 15% was used for mine, and about 2 hour print time.
