Reciprocating rack/geneva with dwell time

grabcad

A reciprocating motion device that features an eccentric shaft which drives a deformed Geneva wheel, thereby generating discontinuous back-and-forth movement with pauses between cycles as shown in the graph. The output is rotational but can be transformed into linear via additional rack and pinion or slider-crank mechanisms. I opted for a six-slot Geneva gear, yielding 60-degree rotation (360 degrees divided by 6), though various other Geneva gears may be employed to achieve distinct angles.
