This mechanism converts rotary motion into linear oscillating motion. The gear appears to bounce back and forth as it continuously rotates, creating a mesmerizing effect. As the wheel spins, the gear turns and oscillates between two tracks, emitting clacks and sloshes sounds that create a sense of white noise. The teeth engage the lower track as it rotates, then clear the end of the track and catch the teeth in the upper part of the track, creating a continuous motion.
