Double-action reciprocating piston pump driven by a crank is currently in early WIP stage, with some details yet to be added later on. Piston ends require O-rings to seal and also need check valves to function properly, although these may be modeled later. Most mechanically inclined individuals should be able to assemble the pieces without difficulty, as it's not overly complex. --- Edit --- Several changes have been made since initial posting. Two illustration renders provide a clearer understanding of how the components fit together. Most parts should now assemble correctly, yet some fastener holes are still needed. Currently, valving required for proper pump function is being left out, requiring 4 check valves and two T-connectors in addition to the piston design. The idea behind the piston's fluid displacement mechanism should be fairly workable. A square end on one drive shaft can be modeled if necessary, as well as a crank if desired. It may also be feasible to create a through-shaft version with double-cranked or pedal-operated functionality. Feedback in the comments is encouraged. --- Edit --- Through holes have been added for fastening center casing parts, allowing them to be bolted together. The design was not specifically scaled for any particular dimensions; if someone wishes to fabricate this item, they should scale it according to a desired piston diameter that will fit an O-ring correctly. Other related parts should then be easier to obtain. As the creator is not an engineer, the design leans towards using thicker materials commonly used by most people. This project was conceived because there's still value in creating mechanical items with potential usefulness. Feedback from successful builds would be greatly appreciated, as the creator lacks sufficient funds for 3D printing at present. --- Edit 6/13/2017 --- A model of a check valve has been added as a separate file. The valve insert piece should be made of something flexible enough to accommodate the spring portion's movement. Keep in mind that four such valves are required for this pump to function correctly. Later on, a revised version of the cylinder end may be created with integrated valves. --- Edit --- A revised check valve design has been implemented, incorporating additional openings for increased flow after lift.
