Remake of a 100-Year-Old Patented Toy Designed to Teach Multiplication Basics to Kids This toy is intended for kids learning multiplication tables, and I've included historic instructions for entertainment purposes. The original name was "Consul" - The Educated Monkey, a nod to its educational roots. This version uses 3mm birch plywood and has multiple layers in the SVG file to facilitate construction. The "laser" layer combines all parts into a single 200mm x 280mm rectangle. To add text, enable either the "english text" or "german text" sub-layer. There are too many small pieces, but they serve as axes in the joints. These rectangles come in various widths, from 3.8mm to 4.2mm, and you should choose the one that provides a snug press-fit and discard the rest for optimal results. For added strength, make sure the wood grain is oriented lengthwise. A small amount of glue is needed to attach supports on the back of the base and secure the top layer of the window. The rest of the assembly should work with press-fits, but minimal glue won't hurt. The original patent has expired, so I assume it's okay to share this remake as a non-commercial item here. The four SVG files contain identical drawings, differing only in visible layers for ease of use.
