Rear suspension mounts for a Tamiya Lunchbox

The Tamiya Lunchbox boasts a vintage aesthetic, featuring a straightforward gearbox setup. The pivot point of this setup resides on an 8mm ABS plastic rod, while suspension is secured to both sides with spring-loaded components. This basic design yields a low price point, which is beneficial when dealing with energetic young enthusiasts - a seven-year-old driver can be particularly destructive! Nonetheless, the structure puts considerable strain on its components, especially small plastic pieces that attach to either side of the gearbox and serve as connection points for the suspension. In our experience, these elements are prone to failure. To overcome this issue, we replicated the problematic parts using 3D printing techniques in PLA. Although the new versions were identical to the originals, they unfortunately succumbed to stress and ultimately failed. Recognizing this limitation, we reinforced the design and produced a modified version in Taulman3D Nylon Bridge material, which has proven resilient - at least for now!
