Rear-Mount Print Cooler for Ecksbot
thingiverse
Design a clip-on print cooler for Ecksbot using OpenSCAD and include .scad file for customization. The cooler addresses issues with front-mounted coolers, like obstruction during nozzle cleaning or observation. It uses the same 40mm fan as the extruder cooler and comes with a cable tie loop to prevent shifting during aggressive infils. Eckertech sells fans at $5 each. This print cooler allows decreasing minimum layer time to 10 seconds, reducing printing time from 8 hours (Skeinforge default) to about 2 hours for red tree frog model. Print the .stl provided or tweak design using the .scad file. Use 0.3mm layer height at 30% infill during printing. Removal requires a gentle approach with a paint scraper. Install the fan with M4 x 40mm bolts and nuts, wire extruder cooler to constant 12V power, and print cooler to D09 output for PWM control. Turn off print cooler for first 3 layers, then operate at 50% or higher for optimal results.
