Rear Fog and Reversing Lights for Ford Expedition

Rear Fog and Reversing Lights for Ford Expedition

After importing my car from the USA to the UK, I had to convert the reversing lights into indicators, which required installing an aftermarket reversing light and rear fog light. I experimented with three different models but they all looked unsightly hanging off the rear bumper; I wanted something that would seamlessly integrate with the bumper bar and appear as a genuine part of the car. Failing to find a suitable pre-made option, I designed and printed my own custom units. Although these were created for a Ford Expedition, I expect them to also fit an F150 or other vehicles equipped with a steel bumper bar. PETG was chosen over PLA or ABS for the body due to its superior durability, while T-Glase provided the necessary clarity as the lens material. The LEDs sourced from eBay are 9-12v 10W units that are mounted on a piece of 20mm aluminum strip. A 10ohm resistor was added to the circuit to tone down the brightness and prevent overheating. Stainless steel nuts and bolts secure the mounting, while 3mm screws hold the lens frame in place. To ensure water-tightness, a bead of black silicone sealant is applied around the lens frame - with LEDs used, the lens/frame assembly should remain intact during maintenance.
