Rear Fender for MTB (Extendable/Retractable)
pinshape
Extendable and retractable mudguard designed for mountain bikes with full suspension frames, which typically feature lower rear sections. Although it might work on hard-tail bikes as well, the aesthetic appeal would be compromised. The design is tailored for 26-inch wheels but can be scaled up using a large printer if needed. I printed this mudguard over two days and two nights, and to my surprise, everything fit together perfectly. I'm particularly proud of how seamlessly the moving parts interacted, especially considering that I printed it at a speed of 110 mm/s and later increased it to 120% on certain sections - truly impressive! Please check back periodically as I intend to update this design with additional features and enhancements. Feel free to modify or create your own improved version. Instructions: 1. Use cyanoacrylate super glue to attach the outer fender (parts 2 and 3). 2. Insert the inner fender parts, applying glue sparingly to prevent them from adhering to the outer fender. Once hardened, apply a second coat, anticipating frequent assembly disassembly during its lifespan. Ensure smooth movement, as this will be your last opportunity for modification or sanding. 3. Attach the outer fender part 1 with glue, after which you'll no longer be able to access the inner fender. 4. Install the mudguard on your bike, verifying proper alignment and free wheel rotation when the inner fender is retracted. Secure it in place using doubled-sided adhesive and add custom holders for added stability. 5. Enjoy your newly equipped mountain bike! Printed using an Ultimaker Original+, consuming 46 meters of filament: Layer height: 0.15 Shell thickness: 0.8 Fill density: 20% Printing speed: 110 mm/s Temperature: 230°C Bed temperature: 60°C Support material is optional but not strictly necessary. No brim was applied. Nozzle diameter: 0.4
