<p>UODATE:<br/> After I had put damper feet under my Ender the back pillar stood shaky and grounded into free air. I had to design a new bottom and connector to it.</p> <p>It slides into the horizontal printed extrusion and it stands with a tiny platform to give more stability. Part of it is remixed from a new thing, <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3550891">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3550891</a>. Unfortunately thingiverse will not let me add it propperly.</p> <p>And you may notice at the pics that I set to pillarparts on top of each other. to connect them I printed 4 of those insets from <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4775053/">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4775053/</a><br/> I added that part to this collection as well. If it sits to loose for you, scale it up in the slicer.</p> <p>Sorry for the low quality of the pics.</p> <p>One thing that bugged me since I installed the rear electronics case was the untamed cable tube rubbing against the print bed. The idea was to have something tall to hold the tube high.<br/> Another question I've been contemplating was how to mount a camera in the back of the printer. Because from the back you have the best view at the print nozzle when blTouch, the part cooler, the hot end cover and possibly a short led strip all stand in the way for an unobstructed view from the left, right and front of the printer.</p> <p>Thingiverse search found me nothing ready to use with the Ender 3 but I still collected a number of elements. This is a remix of those elements from different sources.<br/> FreeCad source files included.</p> <p>Basically it's a printed 20x20 extrusion extending out at the rear end and another, taller one going vertical from there. On top there's a bow to hold the cable tube.</p> <p>I didn't find a suitable cam mount yet so this may be my next project.<br/> Update: YACE - Yet Another Cam Enclosure <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3984749">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3984749</a></p> <p>How to build:</p> <p>The connector.stl is screwed to the middle of the rear electronics case with the single screw there. It's claws are pushed on a piece of extrusion.stl, print about 75mm for this.<br/> Don't push it in to far! You need space to tighten the rear case screw.</p> <p>Print another 200mm of extrusion, this is the column. It is fixed to the bottom extrusion with a print of corner_single.stl.</p> <p>The corner needs 2 srews in addition to the snaps to be stable, slip a nut into the extrusion channelto hold the screw. Fixing those screws is a bit tricky as the nut will turn with the screw unless you hold it with another hex key or tweezers.</p> <p>On the top the semi globe halbKugel.stl is fixed loosely by the pin.stl pushed 2mm in the hole from the flat side, the pin goes easily in the hole of the extrusion. On the other side of the semi globe the middle pin of bogen.stl fits in the hole. As a result the top rotates easily.</p> <p>To print the extrusions a brim is helpful, 8mm worked for me. I had a 2mm brim for the pin, too.</p> <p>Update<br/> After some evaluation:</p> <ul> <li><p>Is it worth the trouble? On the pro side:</p> </li> <li><p>it turned out 'stable' in first try</p> </li> <li>it does keep the cable duct in place, at least for prints with limited height<br/> (would need a bow with steeper edges for prints with heights exceeding 15 cm)</li> <li>it does make it easy to fix a cam like <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3984749">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3984749</a> </li> <li><p>pics / videos taken from that perspective are much better than what I got from any other mount place On the con side:</p> </li> <li><p>the rear column is in the way when I have anything to do at the electronics so the benefit of 'easy access' of the rear control case is partially defeated</p> </li> <li><p>wd be nice if the connector part allowed easier detach/reattach For me the judgement was 'keep it' even when I had a major reshuffle with the electronics..</p> <p>Late addition:<br/> Should you ever want to connect several printed extrusions head to tail,<br/> <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4775053">https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4775053</a> may be helpful</p> </li> </ul> Category: 3D Printer Parts
