Realistic Neotropical Yellow Toad (Incilius luetkenii)
thingiverse
The Central American dry-forest is home to the neotropical Yellow Toad (incilius luetkenii), a species renowned for its extraordinary breeding habits that unfold when the first heavy rains of the year hit its arid habitat. At this time, males undergo a dramatic transformation from dull grayish-brown hues to vibrant lemon yellows and congregate by the hundreds in temporary pools created by the rainfall. As female toads appear on the scene, males engage in fierce battles to secure positions on the females' backs in a position known as amplexus. A 3D model of a male yellow toad was initially designed for research purposes, utilizing a combination of scan data from a real living toad and modeling data created with zbrush. This low-resolution version has been scaled down to one-third its original size to facilitate quick and easy printing. It also serves as an excellent test to gauge the capabilities of your printer in producing intricate details. Give it a try!
