Realist Rv5e 5-string violin practice mute
thingiverse
I made a custom practice mute for my 5-string Realist Rv5e violin because I couldn't buy one that fit perfectly. A hole is drilled into the mute to accommodate a metal pin of unknown diameter - a detail that now eludes me, since it's been years since I created this and lost access to the files. To protect the bridge of my violin and ensure a secure grip, the mute needs to be printed using flexible material like SemiFlex. Unfortunately, this particular type has been discontinued, so I'll have to opt for something similar. Once printed, the channels need to be meticulously sanded to achieve a smooth surface that won't damage the violin. The design of the mute allows it to stand upright during printing, which is why it has an unattractive flat head. Nonetheless, it serves its purpose well - providing a practical solution for home practice sessions.
