I recently had an MRI scan (don't worry, I'm fine) and I thought it would make a super cool to 3D print my brain. Now you can too!

I have uploaded a ‘coarse’ model that doesn't have as much detail but is a much smaller file and is easier to handle if you want to quickly download to interrogate the model or get a quick estimate of print times.

The model does have some internal structures (although I have removed a significant portion) but PrusaSlicer's “Support All” option can apparently be used to fill any remaining internal voids and dramatically reduce the print time.

Print settings:

Build adhesion - raft (maybe not necessary, but there is a lot of separate support material)

Supports - yes (I used tree supports as I sliced this with Cura)

0.2mm layers

0.4mm walls

3 walls (4 might be better to deal with the steep angles)

3 top and bottom layers

Adaptive infill to reduce filament use but fully support the top section

eSun Marble PLA at 190/65 degC (63 hours (this was before I had done any printer tuning…) and 433g of filament (including raft and supports)

If you have had an MRI and want to recreate your brain, instructions are available on my website here.
