For a very long time I've wanted to print this mathematical shape to see it in detail and also understand how it is from a phisical object.

However I never found a good model (or even a decent detail one), I wanted the version developed in 2009 by Daniel White, which is more real 3D mandelbulb (not just a revolved version of the 2D mandelbrot set).

It stated after getting excited again with the Mandelbulb model thanks to this Coding Train video:

<oembed url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJCiUVGiNyA&t=293s"></oembed>

But after lots of trying I couldnt get it to work, so I ended up using the “mandelbulb 3D” software:

https://www.mandelbulb.com/2014/mandelbulb-3d-mb3d-fractal-rendering-software/

I Created 3 different versions with different amount of detail, i ended up printing the lowest (wich is the one visible in the pictures) because I wanted it fast (the more detail the slower its printed) and also needs less support (which you can manually adjust so its very little, see 3mf file.

The different qualities are pretty straightforward but just so its clear:
1-HIGH: the highest quality and detail, it will take longer to print (2M triangles model)

2-MEDIUM: medium quality in between the other 2 (1.1M triangles model)

3-LOW: lowest quality (which is still pretty good), it will print the fastest, it has already the 3mf file with the supports (very little, but still needed) (900K triangles model)

All the versions have Top and Bottom (probably both are the same, but i didnt want to risk it, so I created 2 files per version)

The 3rd piece you'd need to print is the “connector” a small triangle which fits between both pieces and keeps them together and properly oriented (there are 3 possible positions, just one is correct, check both pieces go together nicely, like in the pictures). You just add any glue you prefer to the mix and let it dry.

Enjoy this mathematical beauty.
