The base mesh is crafted with precision using the Snowflake Machine, available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1159436. To optimize it for printing, I've set a layer height of 0.35mm and increased print speed by limiting the ice plates to just two layers high - this also enhances the overall look. I've printed approximately 30 models on my Prusa i3 mk2 using neutral PETG, which surprisingly resembles ice in its appearance. Clear PLA also works well, and I experimented with adding a transparent blue layer between each clear PLA layer by changing filament mid-print. The results are impressive! Check out this timelapse video of the print process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiIYboqJRiQ. Here are my print settings: Printer: Prusa i3 mk2 Resolution: 0.4x0.35mm
