Reaction-Diffusion Demitasse Cup

Reaction-Diffusion Demitasse Cup

Summary My work involves implementing a reaction-diffusion model through programming. Calculating pipe patterns with C program, I placed them around a coffee cup using the OpenSCAD program. Print Settings Printer: Da Vinci 2.0 duo Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Notes To modify the reaction-diffusion pattern (various parameters of reaction-diffusion, random seed, resolution, # of iteration), edit "rdpipe.c", compile and run, redirecting output to "rdpipe-sub.scad". The algorithm is based on the Gray-Scott model in a pipe world (top/bottom closed, left/right sides are continuous). To change the design of the coffee cup, modify "rdcup2.scad". The outer reaction-diffusion skin does not fit the coffee cup perfectly, so it's not an actual manifold object. I used Microsoft Model Repair service to fix it, or a solidify operation may work. The "rdpipe-sub.scad" is part of the OpenSCAD program, which initializes array v[] with the data. Without other skills or software to place a matrix onto a surface (or zmap), I did this way. Please suggest better methods. I believe supports are not essential on some 3D printers.
