Re Water Can

Here's a watering can that measures out the right dose every time. Simply pour in the jug and only the correct amount of water will come out, then pour again, and so on. I design many things that don't make it here for various reasons, but I thought I'd upload this one since the set of reasons might be different. This dry season inspired me to create a watering can that measures out a precise dose every time you pour. Results may vary, so use at your own risk. Getting a water-tight container requires some work and depends on your printer's capabilities. It's a water-carrying vessel with a square shape that makes it easy to stack. I've updated the design to version 14, but I must have accidentally changed it back to 12. I printed this with a 1mm wall thickness in most areas and added some gussets for extra support. The print measures approximately 72mm by 71mm by 13mm, and I used an extruder tip of .4. Scale the design to suit your needs. It now has a supported handle area as part of the overall can, but it doesn't have a lid yet. I printed this in PLA, but you could try printing it in other materials like stainless steel or aluminum for added durability. The print settings I used were 28mm layer height, three shells, 20% infill, and 200 extruder temperature. Works in progress... Having my Makerbot Replicator print a watering can as I type is quite the sight. Print settings can be adjusted to prevent leaks, but it takes some trial and error. Some printers may be better suited for this design than others. I do enjoy designing and making things, and having them on Thingiverse is always a bonus. With luck, this might be useful to you.
