Re-Spooler
thingiverse
The Problem: I had spools that were too small to work properly in the AMS of the Bambu Labs X1 Carbon. I had other spools that had rough spots on the rim of the spools and was not wanting to feed smoothly. The Solution: I built a Re-Spooler. It can be cranked by hand or with a variable speed drill. Operate it at a moderate speed and guide the filament from side to side to make it lay as smoothly as possible. Build Process: I built the base and sides out of wood so it would be heavy enough to be stable. If you anticipate using this for 5 KG spools you might want to adjust the width of the base and also the length of the threaded rod. All the plastic parts are PLA printed with default settings.. I used 12 inch 1/4 20 threaded rods as the hubs. I used the rectangle nut from a piece of hardware used to put two pieces of countertop together (I don't know what it is called) I used this because it is real easy to spin on and off. I only used the threaded rectangle. The spool center Thingys are cone shaped to fit any spool. I used 4 washers under each Latch to give the proper clearance and tension to hold the Slip Bushings in place. I used washers against all PLA parts to spread the pressure to prevent crushing. I used oversize washers on the rod just inside the wood frame to prevent the shifting of the Slip Bushings. I heated the nut and pulled it into the Wing Nut by tightening a bolt. I used a lock washer between two nuts so that the handle would not slip but the threaded rod would spin easily in the sleeve. Hardware: 2 -- 12 Inch 1/4 20 Threaded Rod 4 -- 1/4 Inch Nut with Nylon Insert to Lock 8 -- 1/4 Inch Nuts (Or 12 if you can't find the Rectangle Nuts) 2 -- 1/4 Inch Lock Washers 34 - 1/4 Inch Flat Washers 2 -- 2.5 Inch 1/4 20 Bolt 8 -- 1.5 Inch Washer Head Wood Screws
