RCDC Brushless Motor Bench Thrust Tester
thingiverse
Here's something I've been putting together for testing brushless motor/prop combinations. Please exercise caution when using this, as spinning props etc can be very hazardous. You build and use this item at your own risk, since it is a relatively untested concept design. My scales are 20mm thick, so if yours are taller you'll need to add spacers under the main frame to make everything perfectly level. I haven't progressed far enough to incorporate watt meters yet, but the frame itself is sufficient for you to attach whatever you want to it. It's all set up to test props in the pusher position, but there's another ESC mount in the files that will let you test in tractor prop configuration. My tests have consistently shown that you definitely get more thrust in pusher configuration. I've been printing it in PLA with the following settings: 0.3mm layer height 0.5mm layer width 3 layer wall thickness 5 layer top/bottom 25% infill It would probably be fine in PETG as well, just make sure it's a strong print. I've been printing the motor mounts in ABS in the same settings, except in 0.2mm layer height. You will need: 11x 4mmx50mm bolt 2x 4mmx25mm bolt 13x 4mm nyloc 2x 3mmx25mm bolt 6x 3mmx16mm bolt 8x 3mm nyloc 100mm length 8mm shaft steel 2x 608 bearing Please enjoy my design, and if you make one, please add it to my makes so I can see how it went. If you are into RC models (I'm assuming you are, or this wouldn't be of interest), please visit my webstore at "www.rcdc.net.au" and consider supporting us with some of your business. It would be greatly appreciated.
