RCBS primer deflector
thingiverse
There are quite a few versions of these primer catchers but I wanted something specific. This replaces only the back half of the stock primer catcher. The catcher needs to flex considerably in order to install on the press and I wanted to maintain that resilience on the assembly. My new back half is a tight fit onto the front half and simply deflects the spent primer to the tube side. I printed this as one piece but also created a 2 piece version that should require no supports and prints in less than half the time. Just glue the two halves together. I tested with about 50 rounds and it worked well. Occasionally a primer sits on the "shelf" behind the ram but it always ended up getting knocked down the tube by the next primer. I did not include a blocker for the front of the ram. I learned long ago that a drinking straw fills that space nicely and if it slips out of place and gets in the path of the ram it won't jam up the works. Worst case you just need a new straw.
