The original gearbox in the HG P601 is a total failure, its weak aluminum gears are prone to breaking. I opted for this gearbox (http://store.rc4wd.com/R2-Black-Crawler-Transmission-V2_p_842.html) and decided to modify it for the HG P601, requiring only one simple spacer that I created, with just four holes drilled into the gearbox bracket and installed. The shafts needed to be reamed out to 5mm in order to fit the gearbox, and a propeller reamer worked perfectly for the job.
