RC Trommel
thingiverse
Hello, I modeled and printed this to use with my rc construction equipment. I used bearings and silicon grease for the trommel portion. It is ran off of a 12v geared motor I purchased on amazon. My printer is not that big so I cut up most pieces to fit and then glued them together. The main parts were screwed together using m3 hardware. At this point, I wont be using any supports or rollers for end of trommel. It actually spins pretty decent and can support the weight of dirt and rocks going through it. At least for now anyways lol I will try and update with a parts list as soon as I can. Parts List: m3 x 12mm m3 lock nuts m3x 8mm m3 grub screws (set screws) m2 x 10mm (for drum) m2 nuts (for drum) 37mm Geared motor Cheap arduino motor controller or you can run directly off battery. I chose motor controller to test different rpm geared motors 3- 10x5x3 Bearing 3- 13x6x5 Bearing 1- 14x5x5 Bearing **UPDATE 02/19/23 I have added some updated files and pictures I built the shoot (Main House) first. Installed motor and wiring then installed the drum. You will need 8 bearings to mount the drum to house. The drum rolls on the bearings and has a flange that bearings hold in place on the side as well. I printed my spur/pinion gear but have had to replace 3 times now. I most likey will order a metal 54 tooth (current gear is 53 tooth) mod 1 spur gear to replace. I modeled a new gear and it works well but would like the peace of mind using a metal gear. I also modeled this for a auger style feed system but have yet to finish that portion. I was eager to play with this so I added the slide to help -feed drum. I works ok but I have to manually unclog hopper when it gets too fool. To help unclog I added a shaker motor to bottom of slide plate (just hot glued it to bottom) and now it can clear itself. I added some tape to help keep smaller rocks and dirt out of the flange area (potential to jamb the drum and gears). The tape works well and also helps with insulating the sound from both spinning drum and shaker motor. Feel free to remix and change it up to your liking or fix any issues I still have. Thanks for looking!
