RC Transmitter Joystick Gate
thingiverse
Hi All I was looking for a gate for an RC Joystick to keep it in one channel or the other. I have a Carson Forklift and it has Drive Forward/Back and Fork Up/Down one one joystick while the other has Turn Left/Right and Fork Tilt Forward/back. I didnt find this intuitive and thought that it would be good to be able to restrict the joystick to one channel or the other. I looked for a gate device on Thingiverse but could not find a simple + shaped one. The ones I found were for gear changing. Recently a friend suggested I try Freecad but I never had a reason. I watched the first two videos on Youtube from this playlist from MangoJellySolutions for FreeCAD https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWuyJLVUNtc0UszswD0oD5q4VeWTrK7JC That was all I needed to have a go at my own Gate. The steps were Draw a circle 45mm wide Pad it to a thickness of 1.4mm Select the top face and add to rectangles 7mm X 31mm Cut these from the whole object add four rectangles 2mm wide and cut these. These allow you to align the gate with markings on the transmitter Add rounding to edges Print I had to do two reruns to get the joystick channels right. They print at 6.4mm wide but they are 7mm on the drawing. Having done all this I thought it could also work if I open the Forklift and change the connection for the channels. This was simple and I now have drive on one joystick and Fork functions on the other and no need for this gate I hope you find this useful EDIT TEXT
