Update 2019-06-10: *I've added a flat WTC endcap to simplify drilling holes for servo linkages and prop shaft. The plan is to integrate holes and flanges into the endcap STL, but since I haven't completed the techrack yet, this will be done later on. Thanks for your contribution! This is a scale model of the Swedish submarine HMS Gotland, designed for radio control at 1/48 scale. The project is ongoing and I'll update it along the way. Your suggestions on improvements are also greatly appreciated, whether they relate to printability, scale look, or function. Some details on the concept: -No expensive parts will be required, except regular RC equipment (not 2.4 GHz, as it doesn't work underwater). -No or minimal support material will be needed; all sections should print without support if oriented correctly, except section 7 which requires support for the access hatch. *A static diver is planned, and I intend to use a high-pressure pump ballast system where a washer fluid pump serves as the pump. *A standard 75mm PVC pipe (sold as sewer pipes) will be used as the dry hull/WTC and ballast tank. *She's about 60m long, so at a scale of 1/48, she'll measure 1.25m. It's worth noting that Gotland, with its Stirling engines, managed to evade sonar defenses and "sank" USS Ronald Reagan during an exercise in 2005 (at least, it was photographed within effective torpedo range).
