RC Speed Tank - Alternate Treads

RC Speed Tank - Alternate Treads

thingiverse

Inspired by evil_k's innovative design, I created two alternative treads for my RC Speed Tank. As I continue to test them, take these results with a grain of salt! All three designs require support. UPDATE: I've added v1.1 and v3.1 versions. The thicker, deeper treads offer improved performance. After testing v1.1, I believe three treads per link is excessive, hindering surface friction. V3.1 features a single tread design. I plan to print a full set of tracks using this version for further evaluation. UPDATE: Two sets of tracks with v3.1 have been printed. Initial testing reveals substantial traction gains, even on smooth surfaces like concrete and tile. Next, I'll test the tank outdoors, tackling branches and other obstacles. Print Settings: Printer: D-Bot Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 50% Notes: Higher infill percentages yield better results. At 20% infill, links tend to break around bolts when encountering obstacles. So far, 50% infill has proven sufficient, with no link failures.
