RC Plane smoke generator
thingiverse
This is a prototype to simulate smoke in electric RC planes using baby powder, cornstarch, bread flour or any other fine powder. For this project you will need to modify a 9-gram servo to turn continuously, there is a lot of documentation on youtube but here are two videos that explain how to do it in detail.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZGkkzMBL28https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7a2v4QtJF8After modifying the servo, attach the arm shown in the diagram and screw the arm to the auger (you will see that there are two holes). Mount the servo in the Container and screw it to secure it, at this point the worm should move without too much friction when the servo is actuated. Pass the servo cable and connector through the hole. Screw or glue the Base to the belly of your RC aircraft and attach the rest of the system with 2 screws. This way you can mount or dismount your smoke generator when not in use.To fill the compartment with the talcum powder you can use the auxiliary FunnelCap as shown in the pictures. Do not overfill the auger, 50% should be sufficient for initial testing. Once you have finished filling the compartment, attach the cap.The Bell piece is optional and is intended to direct the incoming air to the auger outlet to improve mixing, but it is only an idea. If you plan to use it, simply slide it from the back to the front and fix it with a screw at the bottom of the container. Finally connect your servo to a free channel of the Receiver and configure it preferably for use with a pot. Make sure that in the configuration of your model, the servo turns to the correct side, pushing the powder out instead of compacting it.Remember that this is a prototype and it would be great if you could help me test it.
