A NOTE TO DOWNLOADERS: I have deleted all my designs from Thingiverse. I keep my Thing pages intact to leave a target to bookmarks, but you can't download my Thing files from this page anymore. Instead, please go to https://www.printables.com/model/88384-rc-plane-modular-wall-storage-system Of course, you can download from there free of charge and with identical license conditions. Sorry for the inconvenience, but due to the administrative neglection of Thingiverse this site has become too buggy to be trusted anymore. ---------- RC plane models (especially motorized models with a landing gear) demand a lot of storage space when not in use. Plus, the place where you store them must be child-safe (cat-safe, dog-safe...). And, on top of that, plane models don't last forever, meaning that, according to Murphy's law, they will have a crash landing right the day after you set up an individual wall mount that will not fit the next model you buy as a replacement... This storage system puts an end to all these problems: - Uses any (even small portion of) free wall as storage space - Can use a high mounting point to keep out of the reach of small children (cats, dogs...) - Saves space by storing fuselages vertically (below the rail) and wings horizontally (above the rail) - Can be adapted/retrofitted to fit different types and sizes of models Can be used to store virtually any plane model with a two-wheel landing gear as well as most with three wheels (as long as they do NOT have wheel pants), shock-/parkflyers and dogfight models without a landing gear, as well as most flying wings. Some sailplanes can also be stored, but this is a little more difficult due to the fact that many sailplane models have nothing to fit a hook etc. to. A 4020 aluminum profile serves as a base rail to which various model holders can be (reversibly) fastened. Printable parts include the wall mount for the rail itself and different types of model holders. Detailed information is found in the manual I uploaded along with the STL files. Load capacity certainly is an issue worth considering, but it usually depends more on the quality of the wall than on the aluminum or printed parts. However, as usual I have to state the following: This is a hobbyist's work provided to hobbyists - use it at your own risk and responsibility. If you have any idea about parts that might be added in order to be able to store additional types of models, just drop me a line outlining your idea, and I will see what I can do. Alternatively, why not add your own holder construction to the system? I am willing to pass on the Fusion 360 files on request to help you with that. Just be so kind to publish additional system parts as remixes, so the whole set of options can be found in one place.
