RC Plane Control Horn
thingiverse
I'm fabricating control horns for my GWS Slow Stick by adding ailerons and I require a part that's both sturdy and durable. Thingiverse offers several designs, but they're all monolithic, which can lead to stress at the joints due to layer interfaces. To mitigate this issue, I've designed a two-piece control horn, with each component optimized for strength based on its printing orientation. Print the individual parts as they were intended to fit together seamlessly. For optimal results, assemble the control horn by bonding the PLA components using epoxy. Since I printed mine in ABS using an Afinia H-Series printer, I quickly applied acetone and allowed it to dry outside. The solvent acts as a natural adhesive while strengthening the bond between layers. To accommodate any possible structural reinforcement, I've intentionally designed the base pad with a generous amount of material available for drilling mounting holes when necessary.
