RC Motor 600 - Boat engine mount
thingiverse
INTRODUCTION This is a straightforward design for a basic engine mount intended specifically for use with a type 600 electric motor, as well as any other motor featuring a diameter of 37mm and a minimum length of 52mm. The end result is simple yet robust enough. MATERIALS 1 x Forward Lower Support (printed, PLA) 1 x Rear Lower Support (printed, PLA) 2 x Upper Supports (printed, PLA) 2 x Stringers (printed, PLA) 4 x M3 Bolt 10 mm 4 x M3 Lock Inserts BUILDING I printed all six parts using a XYZ Davinci Jr with medium infill (50%), resulting in very solid and accurate components. The parts were printed with white PLA. After printing, I trimmed the parts and performed minor sanding to ensure smooth edges. Next, I re-drilled the four holes to 3mm drill size. Then, I applied cyanoacrylate to glue the parts together. Following that, I inserted the lock inserts, taking care not to push them in too far as only one third of each insert would fit into its corresponding hole. To secure the motor in place, I heated a solder and used it to gently push the insert deeper into the hole. Finally, I filled the inside section of the four supports with fabric filling to enhance grip between the motor and the mount.
